Hair Mesotherapy

Hair mesotherapy is a medical procedure that involves the injection of a cocktail of medications, vitamins, and essential nutrients directly into the scalp. This method allows the active ingredients to penetrate deeply, improving microcirculation and stimulating hair growth. To ensure patient comfort, vibration devices or local anesthesia are used during the treatment, minimizing any associated discomfort.

Treatment Procedure

01

Personalized diagnosis

During the initial consultation, Dr. Espinosa Custodio or Dr. Gallardo Madrid will perform a thorough scalp evaluation using an intelligent dermatoscope HairMetrix by Canfield that analyzes follicle density and thickness. This allows for an accurate diagnosis and a treatment plan tailored to the patient’s needs.

02

Application of Mesotherapy

The treatment is carried out using microneedling techniques or manual injection. The medications are administered directly into the scalp, where the hair follicles can benefit from the nutrients.

03

Duration of Treatment

Generally, between 4 and 6 sessions are recommended to achieve optimal results, with visible effects in the first few weeks of treatment.

Medication used in hair mesotherapy

Hair mesotherapy employs a variety of medications to maximize its benefits. Some of the main components used are:

  • Liposomal Minoxidil: Improves blood circulation and promotes hair growth by increasing PGE2 levels.
  • Liposomal Dutasteride: Inhibits the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme, blocking the conversion of testosterone into DHT, which is responsible for follicle miniaturization.
  • Liposomal Finasteride: Helps reduce DHT production.
  • Liposomal Latanoprost: Prolongs the anagen phase of hair, promoting growth.
  • Liposomal Cyproterone: Used for its antiandrogenic properties.
  • Liposomal Melatonin: Has antioxidant properties that help repair the scalp.
  • Liposomal Prostaquinone: Has an anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting PGD2.
  • Liposomal Silicon: Helps strengthen hair structure and improves scalp elasticity.

It is important to note that “liposomal” means these formulations do not contain alcohol or propylene glycol, making them gentler and less irritating to the scalp.

Complementary treatment to oral medication

It is crucial to point out that hair mesotherapy does not replace the oral pharmacological treatment and the type of alopecia must be carefully analyzed to determine if it will be effective. To achieve the best results, this treatment is complemented with medications like finasteride or dutasteride, which systematically inhibit DHT production. Additionally, we consider the use of exosomes as a complementary treatment that can enhance hair regeneration by providing beneficial growth factors. PRP therapy is also another complementary treatment that can be highly effective, as it uses the patient’s own platelet-rich plasma to stimulate hair follicles and improve scalp vascularization and nutrition.

Post-treatment Care

To ensure proper recovery, it is recommended to avoid direct sun exposure and intense physical activities during the days following each session. These care measures are essential to optimize results and ensure the effectiveness of the treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Hair mesotherapy is highly effective for hair issues in both sexes, although treatment progression in women may be more gradual.

Hair mesotherapy is recommended in a high percentage of cases that have undergone a hair transplant, helping treat non-transplanted follicles to prevent possible future loss.

It can be done at any time of the year, and frequency can be adapted according to the intensity of alopecia.

Results are typically visible between 3 to 6 months after starting the treatment.
